Toshiba to Sell Memory Chip Business

  • Toshiba agreed to sell its memory chip business, valued at $18.9 billion, to Bain Capital and Apple
  • An estimated $3 billion of the $18.9 billion will be becoming from Apple
  • Speculation around Apple’s participation in the deal is to become less dependent on Samsung and build a more reliable supply chain as currently uses flash memory supplied from Toshiba
